Basil joined the Structural Engineering Division of Simpson Associates in 2000. Basil has over 35 years experience in the construction industry working both in the UK and the Middle East.
Basil is experienced in the design of sub and superstructures in all structural materials (i.e. steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber) for buildings up to eight storeys high.
In addition to the design of new-build projects, Basil has also been involved in the refurbishment of many existing buildings, some being either listed or of interest to Conservation Officers and regularly undertakes survey work on domestic, commercial and industrial buildings.
Basil has a good understanding of the issues involved in maintaining and repairing older buildings with traditional rather than inappropriate modern methods, whilst embracing cutting edge methods where appropriate.
Gareth joined Simpson Associates in August 2010 and is responsible for the Civil Engineering Teams, who provide a comprehensive design service for roads, drainage and service infrastructure on a wide variety of projects. Since obtaining a degree in Civil Engineering, he has gained over 15 years’ experience particularily in pre-acquisition / pre-planning stages of development and frequently provides advice on infrastructure, flooding and Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS). He also continues to work on individual projects providing strategic advice and technical solutions.
Mike has over 30 years experience in all aspects of construction both in the UK and overseas. A chartered civil and structural engineer he has been responsible for overall management of the practice since taking over in the early 1990s. Mike has extensive experience in property acquisitions having helped to unlock difficult sites for a wide range of clients throughout the UK. In particular Mike has provided dedicated engineering advice to Whitbread plc for 20 years. He has been responsible for the design of a wide variety of projects in all structural materials and is a marking examiner for the institution of structural engineers. He has had particular involvement in work on historic buildings for a range of clients including the National trust.
Chris has over 12 years of experience in structural engineering and has been a chartered structural engineer for six years. He joined Simpson Associates in 2011 and has worked on a wide range of schemes from multi storey residential and commercial RC frames to refurbishment and restoration of listed buildings. Chris supports our office in London by working with clients to develop existing buildings to maximise potential and convert for new uses alongside conventional new build schemes

Ian Rollinson graduated from the University of Glamorgan with a First in 2008 and went on to achieve a Masters from Coventry University in 2014.
Ian began his career at Glanville Consultants and was promoted to Senior Engineer, running a number of projects including residential, commercial, education, and refurbishment works. He also worked on a number of infrastructure projects for First Great Western including the refurbishment of Slough and Didcot Parkway railway stations.
Ian joined Simpson Consulting Engineers in 2016 as part of the Structures team in the Henley office. Following a successful 3-month period, Ian was promoted to Associate and transferred to Gloucester as Head of the Office, where he is responsible for overseeing and managing a team of Civil and Structural Engineers and other technical staff.
David became a Chartered Engineer in 1983 and has a vast experience of building projects in the majority of construction industry sectors. He opened the Gloucestershire office of SIMPSON in 1993.
David’s projects have covered the majority of the country, ranging from private domestic to multi storey PLC schemes on congested sites with very restrictive third party constraints, and includes the restoration of Listed Buildings.
David’s philosophy is to act in a collaborative and team focussed mindset so that Clients’ aspirations and architectural designs can be realised.

Richard began his career working for a national Contractor within their engineering design office gaining a range of expertise in industrial, commercial, retail and housing developments including the regeneration of London Docklands. Richard moved to consulting structural engineering practices and whilst working for a consultant in London, managed large scale commercial and retail projects including Hotels, Hospitals, Superstores and town centre redevelopments. With over 30 years in the industry, Richard brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to lead the team at Simpson.
