Transport Planner position - Henley office

Following a period of sustained growth we are seeking to recruit an ambitious Transport Planner to work from our offices in Henley on Thames although exceptional candidates may be considered for roles in our Gloucester / London / Exeter offices. The Candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Project management of traffic & transport aspects of multi-disciplined projects including preparation of fee proposals, management of programme and budgets, liaison with Clients and other relevant members of the project team.

  • Growing traffic and transport expertise as well as  maintaining and developing Client relationships.

  • Management, leadership, support and coaching of other team members in undertaking technical work and report writing.

  • Preparation of Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and Transport Statements.

  • Site audit and conceptual access feasibility assessments.

  • Preliminary and detailed design for highways, traffic and public realm schemes.

  • Traffic assessments and design of traffic improvement schemes & traffic calming.

 

Key Skills & Experiences

  • Chartered or working towards Chartered Status.

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a Transport Planning role and should hold a relevant degree.

  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team in various disciplines and types of project.

  • High standard of written and oral communication

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Experience writing Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and Transport Statements.

  • Experience carrying out junction capacity assessments using current industry standard software.

  • Experience preparing drawings using AutoCAD and industry standard geometric design software packages.

  • Experience carrying out vehicle swept path assessments using AutoTrack.

  • Experience of negotiations with highway authorities.

  • Knowledge of national guidance such as Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions, Manual for Streets, etc.

  • Effective project and client management skills

  • Ability to deliver to tight deadlines

  • Positive and enthusiastic approach

  • Proactive approach to seeking and sharing knowledge

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

  • Ability to generate and apply ideas

Trainee Engineer position - Gloucester office

We are looking for an 18 year old Maths A'Level student, who has just finished school, to train as a structural/civil engineer at our head office in Gloucester. An interest in AutoCAD is essential.

4 Year Day Release for degree course will be given to the right candidate with all university fees paid for.

Starting salary £12,000 p.a. with regular increases.

Must be local.  Start date asap.

Structural Engineer position – Henley office

Our Henley office is recruiting for a Structural Engineer.

Ideally you will have 5+ year’s experience and be chartered, or working towards it, although exceptional candidates with lesser experience could be considered. 

A knowledge of steel, concrete, timber and load bearing masonry structures is essential and the ability to design to British Standards or Eurocodes.  Experience with computer software is desirable – notably TEKLA Structural Designer, Robot and TEDDS; and you will need to be an excellent communicator with a positive working attitude.

This is a permanent position and you will have the opportunity to take on a varied workload and be involved in all aspects of projects from scheme design, through to construction on site.   Typical projects include multi-storey framed buildings (steel and concrete up to 18+ storeys), commercial, educational and residential.  Have a look at the Portfolio page on this website for examples of the types of our recent projects.

Utilities coordinator role – Henley office

We are seeking an ambitious and driven person to join the practice as a Utilities Co-ordinator within the civil engineering team. A key service provided by the team is the provision of advice and support in connection with utilities in terms of how they may affect a site and how development can be serviced.

The Utilities Co-ordinator would be responsible for co-ordinating, managing and overseeing the procurement of records, capacity checks and quotations for new services supplies / diversions, on a wide variety of projects and would report to an overseeing engineer. The role is primarily administrative in nature but the ideal candidate should have previously worked within a technical environment and any previous experience working with utility companies would be advantageous.

 Main Responsibilities

  • Overseeing all utility correspondence and liaison
  • Obtaining records from utility companies
  • Establishing constraints where development is found to be in close proximity to existing services
  • Obtaining quotes for utility connections, disconnections and diversions
  • Obtaining capacity checks and impact studies for water and sewerage services
  • Carrying out consultations with other regulatory bodies who may be affected by a development
  • Registering postal addresses, MPAN’s and MPRN’s
  • Co-ordinating enquiries on a number of projects, maintaining a database for each project, ensuring information is received in a timely manner
  • Critical analysis of utility proposals/ feedback, reporting any issues to the overseeing engineer
  • Maintaining an up to date database of utility company contact details and build on existing relationships
  • Liaising with third parties and other members of the design team including Architects/ M&E Engineer / clients to resolve issues
  • General administration, eg.: filing, faxing, scanning and data input
  • Assisting with invoicing and payments when needed
  • Supporting the effective delivery of utility works through regular consultation, and when necessary, assisting with the resolution of on-site issues
  • Preparing and providing regular updates on live projects with informative reporting
  • Continual management and maintenance of relationships with clients and other members of the design team
  • Overseeing supporting staff and growth / development of the team, including training team members.

Key Skills & Experiences

 Essential

  • Attention to detail and an ability to report critically and analytically
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Living within commutable distance of Henley on Thames
  • Proficient with the use of general MS software (windows, excel, word, outlook, etc.)
  • A willingness and aptitude to learn new skills

Desirable

  • Preferably Degree qualified
  • Previous experience within a construction/ consultancy environment in an administrative role
  • Previous experience of working with utility companies and knowledge of the processes involved in utilities connections
